NHCH Board
Requirements & Responsibilities
NHCH
Board Member Requirements
Leadership
in this organization is a
service to the Lord, as well as to its members. We
believe that God in His sovereignty will guide the Board of
Directors (“Board”) in choosing the proper members and in guiding them
in their
responsibilities.
NHCH
Board members:
- are active
members of NHCH, satisfying all of the requirements of membership;
- are committed to
homeschooling their children;
- have a desire to
serve other homeschooling families;
- have a desire to
promote and protect the organization;
- work to fulfill
the NHCH Board Responsibilities.
The
Board agrees that:
- Board
membership is subject to the unanimous approval of the existing Board
members;
- Board
membership is not a term appointment; members serve as long as they and
the
other Board members are both willing and able for them to continue;
- The
Chairman of the Board will represent NHCH, its leadership, and its
members
within the organization and to the community at large.
The Chairman shall be elected by a majority vote
of the Board;
- The
number of members on the Board may change by unanimous consent of the
existing
Board;
- Board
positions that become vacant for any reason do not necessarily need to
be
re-filled, with the exception of the Chairman of the Board.
Criteria for removing
members from the Board include:
- failure to comply
with Board member qualifications;
- violation of the
NHCH code of conduct;
- personal
conflicts that, in the unanimous judgment of the Board, impair the
ability of the Board to satisfy the NHCH Board Responsibilities.
A Board
member who is removed from
the Board may remain a member of NHCH, subject to the approval of the
remaining
Board members.
NHCH Board
Responsibilities
The NHCH
Board of Directors shall:
- define the
character of NHCH;
- periodically
review, and if necessary ammend, NHCH documents;

meetings;
- share relevant
information with other Board members in a timely way;

responsibility for NHCH initiatives to members who are willing and able
to serve in such capacity ("Coordinators");
- communicate
regularly with Coordinators;
- ensure adequate
resources for NHCH initiatives;
- periodically
review NHCH initiatives to ensure that resources are used effectively
and in keeping with the purposes of the organization;

advocate on its behalf.
